Travel to Longhouse, Sarawak and get a chance to discover all the famous tourist attraction along with the Sarawakians main shelter area. A holiday in Sarawak is incomplete without a stopover to the longhouses that are the traditional houses of many of the natives here such as the Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu. Longhouse – a terraced street of separate dwellings covered by one roof is headed by a tuai rumah (headman). Every family has their own separate bilik (room) and communal activities are carried out on the ruai (verandah). Male visitors will spend a night on the verandah whereas female visitors are invited to stay in the room. Gawai Dayak along with Iban harvest festival and weddings are usually held in the longhouse.
By Road and River– It usually depends on the location of your longhouse. You can probably take a drive down or take a boat ride.
