Pulau Rawa

Pulau (which means island in English) Rawa (which literally means white doves in the local term, as plenty of them are found here) is situated just 16km away in the east coast of Johor, if you were to get there by boat. Tourist from Singapore and local Malaysians will not miss this popular coral island if there in Johor, as this is one of the places where one gets to enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving and beautiful sandy beaches.

With the super clear water, one can definitely look out for the interesting sea creatures Malayan sea eagles, Blacktip reef sharks, jellyfish, octopuses, reptiles and anymore! If you’re thinking of putting up a night here at the island, then worry not as there are 2 resorts nearby where your accommodation can be taken care of. Known as Rawa Safaris and Alang’s Rawa, you will just need to take boat ride which is just 30 minutes away the Mersing town and then you will be able to spend more quality time and get to travel to Pulau Rawa, Johor anytime of the day.

 

Getting there

By Road – If you are driving and coming from Johor Bahru city centre, you will need to take the Johor Bahru-Kota Tinggi trunk road, passing by the Kota Tinggi-Mersing trunk road which is Highway 3. If you are coming from the North-South Expressway, you need to take the Ayer Hitam exit and drive towards Kluang and get into Highway 50. After reaching Jemaluang town, you will need to get onto the Kota Tinggi-Mersing trunk road and heads towards Mersing. From here onwards, start looking out for signboards that will lead you to the Mersing Jetty.
