Travel to Fort Cornwallis, Penang and view on the most significant momentous in the historical development of Malaysia. Located at where Captain Francis Light was hypothesized to have landed in 1786, Fort Cornwallis is now a public park where tourists and local can get to go in and explore it as it has an open air theatre and some old remnants.
This fort was entitled after a renowned Governor General of India, Charles Marquis Cornwallis, and was premeditated as a defense against the Kedah, French and pirates. This fort is still sheltered by old cannons, which were recovered by the British who had seized them from the Sultan of Johor.
By Foot or Taxi – Fort Cornwallis is at the edge of Central Georgetown on Jalan T. S. S. Barakbah off Lebuh Light.
