Harvest Festival

 Also known as Pesta Kaamatan or Hari Menuai, Harvest Day is celebrated very grandly by the Kadazan, Dusun and various other communities in the state of Sabah. Kaamatan particularly refers to the Paddy Harvesting season which will involve a chain of traditional rituals which will then finally conclude to the Kaamatan festival. The highlight of Harvest Day is seen through the beauty pageant, dance traditions and the final rites that will be conducted by the Bobohizan chief priest.

There are 6 different stages on how this festival is observed:

The Kumogos Ceremony
This ceremony is will be done by the Bobolian priest by scattering 7 stalks of rice to the field of rice in order to inform the spirits presents that not to create any disturbance till the harvest is over.

The Kumotob Ceremony
The rice that is scattered on the field will be used as the seeds in planting the rice for the next season. The stages continue until it finally forms an entertaining and fun event for all participants, believers top enjoy.
